Rose Geranium Oil

Rose geranium is a beautiful flower with floral scents similar to a rose. As an oil it is known to have several health benefits : from relieving itchy, dry skin, to treating acne to even relieving aching muscles. Here is an easy (but I must warn you, time-consuming) recipe of how to make geranium oil at home. If you live in a sunny place, this recipe is perfect. If not, here is a recipe to look forward to in the Spring/Summer!

YOU WILL NEED:

  1. Rose Geranium (Keep in mind you will need to use a fresh batch after each strain so get friendly with your local florist or if you can, parent your own nursery of rose geranium at home)

  2. 500 mL glass bottle with an airtight lid

  3. Carrier Oil (Olive oil, Grapeseed Oil, Almond Oil, etc.)

  4. Cheese Cloth

Step 1: Stuff Geranium Leaves into the glass jar

Step 2: Fill the glass jar with oil of your choice

Step 2: Seal the lid of jar. Make sure it is airtight. And leave it next to the window in direct sunlight for a week.

Step 3: After a week, use a cheese cloth to strain the oil. Compost the leaves or use it in a bath.

Step 3: Repeat Step 1-3 with a fresh bunch of geranium leaves each time for FOUR more times.

This oil should last you up to a year. It smells amazing and works wonders for your skin, not to mention it is also known to support hormonal balance. With its amazingly uplifting scent, how can you not feel relaxed and smile, even if it is just for a moment.

ENJOY!
